Nice summary, Polistra. I just re-read The prince earlier this year and found it psychologically quite insightful and comprehensive. Politics was especially tumultuous and hazardous in his era and place, so the competition sharpened his thinking. Interestingly (at least to me), he befriended DaVinci when they were traveling "on assignment" for the city-state of Florence. warm regards, charles

I first read the book a couple years ago after quoting the usual quotes for a long time. The book is remarkably comprehensive and scientific. Mach lays out the characteristics and abilities of each leader type, and then lists the functions needed to accomplish goals for this type. Each function leads to a specific set of results. It's like a modern handbook for a computer operating system, or the user's manual for a complex device.

Frankly am wondering how Woodrow Wilson pulled of his transformational changes

Income tax added to constitution

Federal reserve

Change in how senators picked

Quite amazing really whether agree or disagree

Trump wants to unwind the income tax and possibly the federal reserve too

Foundational change back to the future
