There's a class component to this as well. The upper classes, managerial class, academic class, are all protected from the breakdown, which means that they have no incentive to change

I have faith in ‘Life Force’…..tho haven’t quite defined that. But I take comfort from hearing that those hideous islands of plastic garbage are being colonised by Nature -I.e living things that will in time change their floating homes, and provide new homes for sea creatures.

"Over consumption"? Of what, and compared to what? While I totally agree that the health of the general public is FAR out of balance. One has to examine why that is the case. The idiotic "food pyramid" is just one (of many) examples of government propaganda that has had dire consequences. Then of course, there is the matter of sugar and HFCS which is found in a vast array of foods and drinks. It doesn't help that the FDA ,USDA and most other agencies are classic examples of regulatory capture. But it is entirely predictable in a totally corrupt power system.

As for the insurance mafia, they have a captive audience, so why shouldn't they take full advantage of them? Its yet another government protected cartel. Perverse incentives produce perverse out comes.

For every action/inaction there is a consequence.
